  • As the Managing Director of SEDC Resources Sdh Bhd, Derek leads the Construction Materials and Trading SBU, which encompasses aggregate quarries, asphaltic premix, steel wires, and trading. He ensures the production and supply of high-quality construction materials while integrating sustainable practices into the SBU’s operations.

  • Derek brings over 14 years of experience in the construction and quarrying industry. His expertise lies in managing large-scale operations, driving innovation in sustainable materials production, and ensuring quality standards across the SBU’s offerings. His leadership has strengthened operational efficiency while incorporating best practices in sustainable resource management.
  • Since 2021, Derek has spearheaded initiatives to integrate environmental responsibilities into quarrying and asphaltic premix practices. These efforts include reducing environmental impact, enhancing resource efficiency, and promoting community-wellbeing, reflecting a comprehensive approach that prioritises resource extraction, environmental stewardship, and sustainability while maintaining the production of superior construction materials.

Azhar Bin Othman

Responsibilities

  • Provides finance leadership and controls which include efficient financial operation, effective management of treasury, cash flow and overhead expenses, inventory management, cost reduction program and strategic long range plans.
  • Responsible for the statutory accounts and tax for the Group and its subsidiaries.
  • Also responsible on strategic planning, annual operation plans and performance management tracking.
  • Key member of the Enterprise Resource Planning system implementation taskforce.

Skills & Experience

  • Mr. Azhar brings with him a wealth of experience and leadership with over 35 years in diverse sectors including semiconductors, textiles, automotive, property development, real estate, investment holding, technology, energy and IT.
  • Prior to this appointment, Mr Azhar served in senior leadership roles at Dagang NeXchange Berhad as Group Chief Financial Officer and most recently as Group Chief Operating Officer.

Qualifications

  • Master of Business Administration from Arizona State University, USA.
  • Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and Corporate Investment from the University of North Texas, USA .
  • Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK).
  • Member of Malaysian Institute of Accountants.
