A Resounding Success for CMS Health Run 2010!
Congratulations to all participants who competed in the CMS Health Run 2010! The inaugural 6-km Run which took place on Saturday, 6 November 2010 at Tunku Putra School, Petra Jaya was a resounding success!
Themed ‘Celebrate Healthy Living’ the Run was organized with the intention to promote a healthier lifestyle, involvement in sports and exercise amongst all CMS employees and their families, as well as the students of Tunku Putra School.
The Run attracted more than 290 runners, joggers and walkers from the various subsidiary companies within the CMS group with CMS Clinker coming out tops for having the largest number of registrants.
It was a very refreshing experience as everyone enjoyed the fresh and clean air at the nature-friendly Tunku Putra School with a sea of participants seen wearing specially designed CMS Health Run t-shirts with orange-coloured caps, some arriving even before the sun came up!
Divided into four categories namely the Men, Ladies, Boys & Girls, participants were each provided with a t-shirt, cap and food coupon for a minimal registration fee of RM10.
Blessed with sunny skies, the event was flagged off by CMS Group Managing Director, Dato Richard Curtis at 7:40 am, after a short warm-up exercise led by instructors from Level-Up Fitness.
A number of energetic and seasoned runners like Jenny Baker and John Lonhienne, both teachers at Tunku Putra School were seen leading the pack while others were pacing themselves to reach the finish line.
It was an enjoyable and memorable morning event that brought together CMS employees with one purpose – to support the CMS Health Run. The pack dispersed at 10 am with full tummies, clear minds and smiling faces. A hearty lunch which consisted of a whole-meal sandwich, banana and drink was provided.
“I would like to say a big thank you to the organising committee led by Shirly Ann Clarke of Group Corporate Communications for initiating the Run and all those who worked hard to ensure that the day’s event went smoothly as planned. They have demonstrated the high spirit of volunteerism,” said Dato Richard Curtis.
“We would also like to express our heartiest gratitude and appreciation to teams from Level-Up Fitness, RELA, St John Ambulance, Normah Medical Specialist Centre and all the sponsors for their support and commitment in making this event a success,” he added.
The prize giving ceremony was followed by lucky draws which saw Angela Goh of Group Internal Audit happily taking home the grand prize.
